Rising Indo-Pak Tensions: Why Student Safety Must Come First

As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, fear and anxiety have begun to ripple through the student community—especially those studying at Delhi University.

Many DU students who had gone home on preparatory leave are now panicking. With exams scheduled to begin on May 13, they face not only academic pressure but also a looming sense of insecurity. Parents from across the country are urging their children to stay home, fearing the potential risks involved in travel and on-campus presence.

A tweet by student leader Ronak Khatri brought this issue to light, highlighting the urgent need to prioritize student safety. He has formally urged the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Delhi University to consider postponing the examinations in light of the prevailing national security concerns.

This is not just a question of academic scheduling—it’s about mental well-being and emotional stability. When the environment is uncertain, students cannot be expected to perform at their best. The fear is real. The anxiety is valid. And most importantly, the safety of students must always come first.

DuWaale’s Stand:
At DuWaale, we believe that education should empower, not endanger. We join the call to postpone upcoming DU examinations until a stable and safe environment is assured for all.

We urge educational institutions, policymakers, and student bodies to come together and make safety the top priority
